Being the hottest lakes of southern Europe and separated only by a strip of rock, they are the ideal destination for those who love a swim surrounded by mountains and want to dedicate themselves to numerous aquatic sports; for example, sailing, windsurf, water skiing, canoeing, rowing, dragon boating and fishing. They are sports that are ideal to regenerate the body and the mind, seeing that they allow excursions and holidays completely in contact with nature, immersed in peace and quiet.
Caldonazzo Lake is the biggest lake and belongs completely to the Trentino region. It has well-equipped lidos and bathing establishments that offer areas for children, the hiring of pedal boats, bars and restaurants, but it also has green and sandy beaches, biotopes and protected areas mingled with pleasant villages and typical places where you can enjoy yourself. Calceranica, Caldonazzo and Tenna offer interesting starting points for numerous walks. During the year, the nautical clubs that are positioned on the shores organise many regattas and races, some of which are international.
Further north, Levico Lake, stretching towards the town of Pergine is similar in shape to a Scandinavian fjord. Surrounded by luxuriant vegetation that gives the water an intense emerald colour, the lake is distinguished by its natural beauty, quality of the water and safe beaches. It is the second longest lake of Valsugana and has become a strong tourist attraction thanks to the thermal baths at Levico, with their arsenical/ferruginous waters suitable for soothing the nervous system and states of anxiety. On the shores of the lake are two bathing establishments and a free beach, whilst an evocative walk along the lakeside offers the occasion to restore body and spirit.
Throughout Valsugana it is possible to enjoy an active holiday, particularly for those who love sport and excursions both on foot and bicycle and the tasty enogastronomical tradition and a mild climate must not be forgotten.
